
Stage 2 of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 kicks off on June 6th, and the field is loaded. Sixteen teams are fighting for eight spots in Stage 3, and the Swiss system is unforgiving: three wins to advance, three losses to go home. That's it.

The 16-team Swiss system runs from June 6th through June 9th. Rounds 2 through 5 are seeded using the Buchholz system alongside teams' initial seeds, so early results matter beyond just the win-loss record. Elimination and advancement matches are Bo3. Everything else is Bo1, which means upsets are entirely on the table in the early rounds.
Top 8 advance to Stage 3. Bottom 8 go home.
Round 1 opens the stage with eight matches across the full 16-team field. In a Bo1 format, nothing is guaranteed.
B8 beat FUT in what should be a close clash, with B8 taking the early edge.
Team Spirit beat BetBoom Team is the natural call given Spirit's calibre, though BetBoom are no pushovers.
GamerLegion beat Astralis is a bold pick, but GamerLegion look dangerous heading into this stage.
G2 beat M80 on the back of their individual firepower.
Legacy beat MIBR with Legacy carrying better recent form into the matchup.
pAIN beat TYLOO is built on pAIN's consistency.
BIG beat Monte gives BIG the nod, and 9z beat FlyQuest rounds out Round 1 with 9z looking like one of the stronger teams in the bracket.

Round 2 is where the bracket begins to stratify. Teams are now carrying a result, and the Buchholz seeding starts shaping who faces who.
Team Spirit beat BIG, GamerLegion beat G2 is the upset call of the round, Legacy beat B8, and 9z beat pAIN fill out one side.
On the other: FUT beat FlyQuest, Astralis beat TYLOO, MIBR beat Monte, and BetBoom Team beat M80 keep all four in contention.

Round 3 sorts the 2-0 and 1-1 pools and delivers the most important results of the early stage.
9z beat Team Spirit is the headline: a 2-0 collision where 9z get the nod and move into the advancement pool.
GamerLegion beat Legacy continues their strong run.
B8 beat BIG keeps B8 in the picture.
FUT beat Astralis is another notable call.
G2 beat MIBR gets G2 back on track.
BetBoom Team beat pAIN, TYLOO beat FlyQuest, and M80 beat Monte complete the round.

Round 4 is where Bo3 matches begin for the advancement and elimination spots. The stakes jump considerably.
Team Spirit beat FUT puts Spirit into the 3-1 pool after their Round 3 loss.
BetBoom Team beat Legacy, G2 beat B8, Astralis beat BIG, MIBR beat pAIN, and M80 beat TYLOO round out a round where mid-table records are decided and survival scenarios start narrowing.

Round 5 is pure survival and advancement in Bo3 format. This is where Stage 3 spots are sealed and eliminations are confirmed.
Legacy beat M80 in a close Bo3, with Legacy's coordination giving them the edge.
B8 beat Astralis is the call for this advancement match, with B8's aggressive style complicating Astralis's setup.
MIBR beat FUT closes out Round 5 and sends MIBR through to Stage 3.
